“To invest is to be invested.”
In this new episode of Voix de l’Audace, we explore a subject that remains all too rarely discussed: investment through the lens of gender.
Today, only 6% of business angels are women. And according to the latest Sista barometer, just 1% of the funds raised by French start-ups go to all-female founding teams. Worldwide, the same barometer puts the figure at 2%. Why such an imbalance?
The conversation brings together three perspectives, from an investor and entrepreneurs:
• Dominique Mucchielli, president of Femmes Business Angels, the first women’s business angel network in France and Europe. In 2025, 55% of its investments went to all-female teams and 28% to mixed-gender teams.
• Magali Droniou and Valerie Taly, co-founders of Methys Dx, a start-up developing innovative tests that can monitor the effectiveness of cancer treatments and detect recurrence using a simple blood sample.
As the episode unfolds, we discover how a business angel chooses a project, as well as the different types of investors and their roles. Their purpose is not to stay indefinitely, but to provide the initial impetus: to invest, channel capital into new projects, then pass the baton to other investors to support growth. For entrepreneurs, nothing is ever guaranteed: everything must be questioned, built and strengthened over time.
Together, they discuss the key issues: cash flow, governance, trust, boldness and agility, daring to ask for help, stepping outside one’s comfort zone, and building relationships between investors and business leaders that create value for everyone.
