Metz in All Its Brilliance. Vever, Exceptional Jewellers: 200 Years of Creation

12 November 2026 to 18 May 2027

The Musée de La Cour d’Or in Metz presents a new, free exhibition tracing 200 years of the House of Vever.

Vever Revealed in Metz: The Story of an Exceptional House

The exhibition at the Musée de La Cour d’Or in Metz traces the history of Vever, a jewellery house founded in Metz in 1821 that went on to become one of the foremost exponents of Art Nouveau.

It spans the period from 1821, when Pierre-Paul Vever opened a jewellery shop in Metz, to 1925–1930, which marked the end of the now Paris-based house’s most flourishing era. The exhibition particularly highlights the house’s deep ties to the Moselle region through his son Ernest Vever and then his grandson Henri.

It concludes with the house’s revival under the impetus of the seventh generation, presenting contemporary creations rooted in its Art Nouveau heritage.

Through nearly 200 works, including jewellery, preparatory drawings, archives, objets d’art and iconic pieces, the exhibition reveals the story of a dynasty whose influence extended far beyond the region. Prestigious loans enrich the Musée de La Cour d’Or’s collections, illustrating the House’s renown across Europe and the United States.
{br>The immersive exhibition is organised into four main sections:

1.     The house’s origins in Metz

2.     Henri Vever: Paris and Art Nouveau

3.     Renown, success and legacy
